More dragons please

Please don’t fish

I’ve noticed that a lot of players have begun placing orders in buildings where I posted gone fishing signs. The point of those signs is that I am trying to get numbers for you guys on rent return. Every time you place an order is time that I can’t get numbers to other players.

This week it took me a week to finally complete the numbers of the labyrinth, even though I had eight available in the main kingdom. I’ve even started putting “gone fishing” signs on every side of the test items, and when that didn’t work I started covering them in trees.

Four different times this week I was within two or three hours of getting those numbers on the labyrinth only to have someone place an order, which means that even after I rejected them, the counter reset.

Please, please don’t get greedy and order at buildings I’ve placed off limits. I will still reject your order and other players will wait even longer. As soon as I’ve collected the numbers, I will put the building into play (if it’s really of value to customers).

Missed opportunities

I loved the new Chinese dragon ngmoco:) released last week, so when I saw the new Sun Temple Tuesday I thought to myself, “All right, this week we’re going to get Quetzalcoatl.” But, no, we got a Jaguar woman and priest instead. Cute, but boring in comparison.

It may show up with the ball court that’s supposed to come as a reward for the King’s Court goal, but I’m not keeping my fingers crossed.

Dragons don’t get much cooler than Quetzalcoatl, the winged serpent. He actually is depicted in many forms, from snakelike to almost human to a version of Ouroboros. Any one of them would have looked great in We Rule (although this one is the coolest), but now we have to wait for another round of Mayan crap.

You can also get Machu Picchu from the boosted gifts, but it’s huge. Really huge. Just about the biggest We Rule building I can remember. I also noticed a new kind of tree in about three different shades on the splash screen. The question is, when will it show up?

Should vendors buy the jaguar temple?

In Thursday’s analysis update I mentioned that vendors might not be so willing to invest in the jaguar temple since the vendor return is so low (about half that of the minotaur’s labyrinth), even though the customer payoff is high. I discovered that the rent return is exceptionally high, but, once again, vendors will lose money as soon as the order is placed. So you might not see too many until even more lucrative shops open.

Inspiration, perspiration or plagiarism?

I couldn’t help but wonder if the game designers haven’t been playing other games on ngmoco:)’s dime. I noticed that the Sun Temple bears a striking resemblance to the Sun Temple in Bloons. The more I compare the two, the more I can’t help but think ngmoco:) may have been trolling for ideas while playing games on company time. If so, ngmoco:) may have to pony up some royalties.

What do you think? To the right we have the We Rule Sun Temple released last Tuesday.

To the left we have the sun temple in Bloons, which is a fun game. Kind of like Plants vs. Zombies on speed. Take away the monkey face, and they look like the same item.

You may not be concerned that game designers are slacking on the job. It is DeNA’s dime, right?

But think about this. We’ve undergone a lot of building inflation, which means ngmoco:) is pushing harder than ever to get us to cough up mojo. Why? Probably to pay for more designers and developers. But if these guys would work on the company dime instead of playing games, then maybe the company could hire fewer designers and hold down the cost to us.

Let’s face it. Free enterprise isn’t really free when the customers pay for it.

It has been reported that DeNa will pay an extra $100 million to ngmoco if they meet certain sales goals by the end of the year. I think that’s the reason for the push, and not paying their designers.

Thanks for the clarification on the “Gone Fishin'” signs. I’m new to your blog and really enjoy the advice you offer for those of us who are more than casual players. I don’t think that I’ve tripped up your data collection, but if so, my apologies.

I think there are only so many ways to draw a Mayan temple.

lets face it…. in our culture the main objective is to make money, the more the better, and there are tons of us suckers around who buy in, spend on useless junk, feeding and supplying those who want more with more… vicious cycle of endless desire for more more more… little thought as to the whys and wherefors !!!
so be it, as the great masses seem to be content with the constant need to acquire regardless of what the cost to life and soul or consequences. ngmoco or rather DeNa, are just capitalizing on it … by the millions and we are most definately buying in by the millions.
i hardly think that the motivation for the excessive “profits” is the worker’s,designer’s or even the client,s well-being…. its shareholder profit. wonder what the percentage of mojo bought goes directly int their pocket ?
food for thought when spending hard earned cash on mojo to acquire yet one more of the same virtual building !

    hi TT,
my sincere apologies for having POSSIBLY ordered from you when the fishing sign was posted. and thank you for making clear the purpose of this sign.
Your post actually has given me the opportunity to comment on these signs and their use.
when they were provided to us by ngmojo, it was my understanding that they were to be used to notify fellow players that we were away and therefore not to order from us. the arrival of this much awaited sign was welcomed.
however, i have observed on many many many occasions, and more and more so, that these signs are added to the decor even though the player is very obviously active. so much so that i had started to wonder iif i had misunderstood the purpose of the go fishing sign.
when i saw it show up on your site, when it appeared that u were active, it only confirmed to me that i had invested the sign with a meaning of my own.
nice to hear from you the confirmation that this sign is used to show that one is absent. thanks for pointing it out clearly. i for one will definately respect.

Ive been gone again for a few weeks again and I cant believe how much has changed. Its not like a day time soap that you can come back to a month later and the plot is the same place you left it. This game changes every day. For my friends, three weeks after my Mom passed, my Dad followed. I can say he truly died of a broken heart. Its been a rough 3 months but I still tried to log in every couple of days to keep me sidetracked. Im sorry for missed orders. I was a little preoccupied. But Im back again, and since I dont have any other parents I should be fine. I just say heres to 67 happy years together, and my I follow suit.Who knows in 35 years on my 70 anniversary, I could still be playing We Rule cos I enjoy it that much! Ha Ha LOL Come on everyonr, you know you missed me! I know I missed you all!

    hi moontown,
welcome back !!! and yes, you were missed. i thought you were busy with your store and am truely sorry for the loss of your dad especially following so shortly the pain of losing your mom. there is however a sweet smile in knowing that they, who seem to have had such a long life of sharing the wonderful closeness of being side by side, are now together again in peace and love. the greatest pain is for those who will miss them. but, from what i can imagine (from so far away), the feelings and memories of them are with you, in your heart and your thoughts. they will acompany you always and i hope that the sadness will, in time be less painful and that the blessing of having such a wonderful mom and dad will blossom into joy.
we are with you in thought and prayer.

Are you sure the idle time gets reset when someone orders? I have found that not to be the case. when I have had people place orders on business behind the “gone fishing” signs, I reject the orders and the idle time continues as it was.

Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. It depends on how long the order has been waiting. As soon as you accept the order, however, you will lose any rent credit. Since everything but the ancient lighthouse pays off better than rent, it’s always better to accept the order.
